Choosing A Motorcycle Jacket That Suites Your Style
Riding down the freeway, glasses on, boots tied up, wind in your face, and your supporting your favorite motorcycle jacket. This is how most hardcore riders picture a nice Saturday afternoon. But something, or someone had to get them interested in riding in the first place. Above all, how did they choose which style of jacket and bike would suit their needs? Lets take a look at some of the more dominant categories of biker jackets.
Times are changing at an exponential rate. What was cool a few years ago is now boring news. Technology is rapidly changing, giving generations of people more information at a rate that can be overwhelming. How can we possibly stay on top of ongoing trends in the fashion world? More importantly, how can the male rider make it seem like they have some fashion sense if they are having a hard time keeping up with this whirlwind of information?
Before we look into specific styles of jackets, you should ask yourself what it is you are looking to get out of your riding leathers. Are you a hardcore rider, taking the hog out every day rain or shine? Do you ride all year? Are you going to be riding for long periods of time or just short commute? Are you looking to make a bold statement with your leathers or are you looking for more protection and perhaps safety? You should consider all of these variables before deciding on what style your ultimately going to decide on. Keeping these questions in mind, and having a rough idea of the purpose of your leathers is going to help with the style you should go for.
Some of the styles men can opt for are:
-
Vintage Leather. A lot of new-age rock bands support a very hipster-inspired style with vintage clothing making a huge impact in their fashion world. If your interested in keeping up to date with the music scene, but also love riding, you can go with a textured leather and brass hardware. They would pair up great with a vintage bike, or just a small cruiser like a Triumph. It will certainly set you apart, and pair it up with a straight or skinny denim, plain white shirt and some vintage Ray Ban sunglasses, and your going to be able to attract those groupies in no time.
-
Classic Rocker Jacket. These are a little bit more punk rock and a lot more attitude. They usually have an offset zipper and belt with a few zip pockets. These jackets look great if your riding a big cruiser or part of a club. These jackets mean business and give more of an edgy look to any distinguished rider.
-
Dual Colored Leathers. These are great for being seen in low light situations. The jacket's usually have an orange stripe which can be easily picked up by oncoming headlights. Most feature zip air vents to help cool you down, and come in a variety of classic styles to give them that timeless feel. For the practical rider, these might be the best option for hitting the open road.
-
Classic Collared Leather. These are great options for the more distinguished riders. They usually have flap pockets and a plain shirt collar style. They can really set you apart when your on the road, and usually gain you respect from other drivers on the road. They come across as classy and refined. These pattern's are not for everyone, but have their way of finding a more mature client.
-
The Bomber. These are very trendy, and modern looking jackets. They usually fit very snugly and give a streamlined look. Most often, the riders of sport bikes like them as they are streamlined for minimal wind resistance. They can look very aggressive and are most common in a jet black, but also come in a variety of colors to match your bike. Many sponsors like these jackets as they are not busy with pockets and seam's. The logo's can be sewn onto almost any part of the jacket.
Regardless of your riding needs, make sure you check the quality of the leather, manufacturer and that it fits right. Your going to be safest on the road with a jacket that will protect you the best, and it all starts with becoming educated on the products. This is an investment so make sure your jacket fits your needs, and even gives the feeling of an extension of your persona.
